Former Holy Loch Shipmate and Astronaut
CAPT Laurel Blair Salton Clark tragically lost in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

Captain Laurel Blair Salton Clark best known to Holy Loch Shipmates circa 1989 to 1992 (base closing) as "Doc" Salton, Squadron 14 Medical Officer, was tragically lost 1 Feb 2003. She was assigned as a Mission Specialist to the STS-107 Shuttle mission which was tragically destroyed during reentry after what has been acclaimed a successful scientific mission.

A, full-military-honors, funeral was held for Laurel at the Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, March 10th 2003. The proceedings started at 1100 Eastern time at the Memorial Chapel at Fort Myers, adjacent to Arlington Cemetery. Once the service was over they went to the Cemetary. Laurel was buried in Section 46. There was a flyby. A reception with the Salton family was held at the Crystal City Marriott after the service at the cemetery.
